Michaela Koller Visits Nigeria
Michaela Koller, one of the programme’s funders, and the founder of WETE, Rev. Sr. Dr. Mary Claret Ogbuehi, visited Nigeria to see the work first-hand. They were around from July 12th to 19th, 2023. Their aim was to meet the learners, observe training activities, and understand how support is changing lives.
They made time to sit face-to-face with the first batch of WETE beneficiaries ahead of their graduation. Students spoke about what they had learnt, where they had improved, and the goals they were setting for the months ahead. Michaela and Rev. Sr. Dr. Mary Claret listened carefully, asked gentle questions, and praised the steady effort shown by each learner.
Despite the short schedule, they also used the visit to plan for the next phase. Working with centre staff, they conducted brief interviews, reviewed needs, and looked at each applicant’s interest and commitment. By the end of the week, seventeen new beneficiaries had been selected for the second phase of the project.
The visit strengthened ties between WETE, its partners, and the training centres. It showed funders’ commitment, encouraged staff, and gave students fresh confidence.
